Communication is the transfer and understanding of meaning which means that communication occurs only if information has been conveyed. Moreover, communication is a process that involves exchange of information, thoughts, ideas and emotions. Communication is a process that involves a sender who sends the message, which is then carried via the communication channel to the receiver where the receiver decodes the message, processes the information and sends an appropriate reply via the same communication channel. Besides that, communication is also something that is communicated by or to or between people or groups, it involves transferring information from one entity to another. The communication process includes 5 elements which are sender, message, medium, receiver, and feedback. Communication processes must involve at least two agents who share a repertoire of signs and semiotic rules. However, communication is divided into two types. One is verbal communication, another one is non-verbal communication. Verbal communication is via conversation and speeches but non-verbal communication is via written words, memo, letter, symbol and body languages.

The communication process is a simple model that demonstrates all the factors that can affect communication. Communication is effective if the message that is received is the same one that is sent. The communication process includes five elements which are Sender, Message, Medium, Receiver and Feedback. Sender:

The communicator or sender is the person who is sending the message. A sender is also an initiator of a message. Message:
Message is the information the sender is transmitting. It is also a communication in writing, in speech, and by signal. Medium:
Medium in communication process means type of ways that the sender sends. The type of ways includes verbal communication and non-verbal communication. Receiver:
A receiver is the person who receive the message or a person for whom the message is intended. A receiver is also a sender whenever he or she responds to the other sender’s message. Feedback:
A feedback is the process to prompt clarification and let the sender know that whether the message has been received or not. A feedback could be a verbal respond or a non-verbal respond, depends on the sender’s message.

Language:
Badly expressed message, wrong interpretation and unqualified assumption, the use of inappropriate words, poorly explained or misunderstood messages can result in confusion.

Culture:
Age, education, gender, social status, economic position, cultural background, temperament, health, beauty, religion can separate one person from another and create a barrier.

Emotion:
Your emotions could be a barrier to communication if you are engrossed in your emotions for some reason. In such cases, you tend to have trouble listening to others or understanding the message conveyed to you.

Stress:
When a person is under immense stress, he may find it difficult to understand the message, leading to communication distortion. At the time of stress, our psychological frame of mind depends on our beliefs, experiences, goals and values. Thus, we fail to realize the essence of communication.

Information overload:
Too much information will cause frequent complaint of executives. The unnecessary information might confuse the other people.

Language:
Try to use appropriate words and accent. Besides that, try to simplify the language to let the audience understand your message easily.

Culture:
Try to ignore people‘s differences. Start to look at the characteristics of a high performance culture. Once you know what you should be doing or promoting, it is easier to make a plan to comfort your situation.

Emotion:
Try to refrain from communication until one regains his or her composure. Moreover, try to make more eye-contact to let the message to be understand easily.
