About Riordan Manufacturing (RM)

Dr. Riordan, a chemist, started Riordan Plastics in 1991 as a research and development company based on patents for creating high tensile strength plastic products. Riordan Plastics added manufacturing operations and became Riordan Manufacturing (RM) in 1992 (Apollo Group, Inc., 2006).

RM employs 550 people in California, Georgia, Michigan, and China. Its headquarters are in San Jose, CA. RM projects $46 million earnings per year (Apollo Group, Inc., 2006).
RM makes plastic bottles, fans, heart valves, medical stents, and custom plastic parts. Its customers include automotive parts manufacturers, aircraft manufacturers, the Department of Defense, beverage makers and bottlers, and appliance manufacturers (Apollo Group, Inc., 2006).

RM strives to be a solution provider to customers and not be a part of customer challenges. It seeks long term relationships by maintaining rigorous quality controls, innovative solutions, a responsive business attitude, and reasonable pricing (Apollo Group, Inc., 2006).

Inventory Management and Control at Riordan Manufacturing
To enhance modus operandi and quality control at all Riordan plants, here is a proposed plan to upgrade the set of procedures which was developed for the management of receiving raw materials, tracking products during manufacturing, and accounting for the completed good inventories (Apollo Group, 2008).
