Organizational communication refers to procedure of passing on messages within or outside of an organization. However, Starbucks uses organizational communication as a way of sharing information and messages. The company operates at the international level in coffee supply and coffeehouse chain (Starbucks Coffee Company, 2002). Organizational communication at Starbucks is effectively developed. Leadership Style
Leadership plays an important role in any organization in terms of organizational communication. Leadership helps to determine the effectiveness of communication into the company to improve growth and success. The different leadership style cannot be adopted by Starbucks because it influences the working environment and the performances of the employees. If Starbucks was to use autocratic leadership the orders would be given to the partners and he or she will be expected to follow the orders. Autocratic leadership indicates a one way communication process in the company. Therefore, management will keep its authority and power over business decision making. Autocratic leadership will affect the group communication in Starbucks because the company believes in innovation and improvement in terms of quality. Using the autocratic leadership will create a communication gap in the organization that will affect the attainment of its long term goals. The communication will be one sided from the leader to the followers.
If the leadership style was bureaucratic the leader will point out the procedures to each worker and he or she will be expected to follow the rules. (Read P O 2006).
